ONE OF OUR OWN / MYSPORTCAL

Football doesn't wait for life to make room.

Neither did the idea behind MySportCal.

What began with a love of football and a question about fitting fixtures into real life has become one of the projects closest to our hearts. We've built it through work, family occasions, interruptions, disagreements and more technical rabbit holes than we'd care to count.

THE BEGINNING

A football idea.
A very full life.

Some ideas won't leave you alone.

Football is brilliant at bringing people together. It's also rather good at dividing a household for ninety minutes.

There are the games you can't miss, the fixtures that move, the rivalries, the family plans and the conversations that carry on long after the final whistle. We wanted the football we care about to fit more naturally into the rest of our lives, rather than having to keep chasing it.

That was the seed of MySportCal. The more we explored it, the more questions followed. Could your fixtures live in the calendar you already use? Could a match become somewhere you return for the lineups, the numbers and the story? Could it all feel like football rather than another piece of office software?

We followed those questions. Then a few more. And somehow the small idea became a considerably bigger undertaking.

A PROJECT WE CARE ABOUT

“Sometimes you build something because a customer needs it. Sometimes you build it because you wish it existed yourself.”

MySportCal is the second kind. And it's taught us an awful lot about the first.

WHAT WE'RE CREATING

Your football.
Your time.

We're developing a football experience that begins with your own calendar and grows with every match you follow. The Premier League is our first focus.

01 / DISCOVER

Find the football that matters.

Fixtures, competitions, teams and players in one experience built for supporters, not spreadsheets.

02 / PLAN

Make room for matchday.

The calendar is the heart of the idea: follow your football, organise what matters and plan around the next kick-off.

03 / FOLLOW

Stay for the story.

Match centres, lineups, form, statistics and developing original analysis bring much more meaning to a fixture.

We're building and refining MySportCal in the open-ended way we approach our own products: start with genuine usefulness, learn from the work and deepen the experience.

THE STORY BETWEEN THE COMMITS

Built around everything else.

Most project timelines leave out the most important context: life carries on while you're building.

01

Family comes first. Football still gets a say.

We've fitted this project around work, birthdays, family occasions and the interruptions that make an ordinary week anything but ordinary. There have been a few family feuds along the way, too. Not everything belongs in a change log.

02

The problem after the problem.

Fixing one issue often reveals another. Data that needs reconciling. Calendars that must understand a fixture moving. A page that looked great on a big screen until you tried it on a phone. Some evenings have been spent following the thread a lot further than we expected.

03

Just one more question.

The dangerous words in our workshop. They can lead to a better design, a smarter way to use the data or another entirely new idea. We've learned when to follow them, when to challenge them and when to get back to building.

BEHIND THE EXPERIENCE

A lot of thoughtful technical work for something that should feel simple.

A useful football calendar sounds straightforward. Keeping real fixtures, changing schedules and matchday information consistent across a growing platform takes rather more care.

Under the bonnet.

We're building MySportCal to feel quick and natural on a phone, while the platform keeps football information organised behind the scenes.

When kick-off moves, it's more than a new time on a fixture. Your calendar and matchday plans need to make sense of the change too.

There's plenty of work you shouldn't have to notice: keeping information current, making pages work on different devices, testing changes and fixing what doesn't behave as expected.

HOW WE BUILD

Human experience. AI curiosity. Plenty of disagreements.

We work closely with Sel, our AI collaborator, as we develop MySportCal.

It's not a prompt followed by a magical finished product. It's ideas, investigation, code, reviews, corrections and decisions. Human experience, instinct and accountability alongside an AI's ability to explore alternatives and connect technical disciplines.

We challenge each other. Sometimes we chase the wrong answer. Then we test it, learn what we missed and find a better one.

The technology matters. The curiosity behind it matters just as much.

JUST BEFORE KICK-OFF

We've told you how it began.
We haven't told you what comes next.

Every football fan knows that feeling just before kick-off.

The teams are in the tunnel. The noise is building. For a moment, absolutely anything could happen.

That's about where we are with MySportCal. The conversations, the late nights, the fixes and the interruptions have brought us this far. But the next chapter is still being written.

And here's the thing. We'd rather you were there for it than hear about it afterwards.

So, one last question...
Fancy being there for the first whistle?
